FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU HELP TREAT CHRONIC ILLNESS? DO YOU TAKE MOBILE BOOKINGS OUTSIDE NORTH MORETON BAY?
Yes! Acupuncture has a great deal to offer patients with chronic illness including management of pain, nausea, and improving movement, psycho-emotional and cognitive functioning.

Absolutely! We are happy to negotiate treatments outside of Northern Brisbane and Moreton bay suburbs, if possible, within the Greater Brisbane area. An additional travel fee of $20 will be payable for appointments more than 20km from Caboolture.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?
Your first session will encompass a thorough health assessment to ascertain your health concerns, any current conditions and safety for treatment. Your practitioner will ask you questions about your health and life that a medical professional may not have asked before. This is because acupuncture is an holistic practice recognising the impact that many areas of your life have on each other. We will then tailor and discuss your individual treatment plan with you, discuss consent and concerns and then commence suitable treatment.
Acupuncture aims to move Qi around the body to areas it is needed, with this, it improves blood flow and reduces areas of stagnation - It is this lack of Qi flow that leads to pain or dis-ease.
Because of this, during acupuncture it is normal to feel sensations like tingling, warmth, temporary numbness, or a sense of relaxation as the needles start to move Qi. It is a gentle treatment with generally very few side effects which may include:

- slight stinging on needle insertion (though much less than a blood test) but some people often don't feel insertion much at all
- slight bleeding at insertion site after needle removal
- bruising surrounding needle insertion site or marking from suction cups if having cupping. This will dissipate over a few days

Your practitioner will assess your suitability for particular treatments depending on your individual health to manage your comfort and safety during your session.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST TREATMENT?
Acupuncture works best if you are well hydrated and have had something to eat that day. It is important not to be too full or too hungry for best results and to prevent dizziness and nausea during and after treatments.

If you are prone to nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure, bleeding or needle phobia or have any other concerns, please inform your practitioner before treatment. Thorough pretreatment health assessment for every patient reduces the likelihood of adverse events.

Drinking adequate water before and after your treatment will give the best results from it. Please avoid drinking excess alcohol 24 hours before and after treatment.

Wear loose comfortable clothing - Some acupuncture points treat areas away from the immediate location of concern so it is important to have access to your lower arms and legs if possible
